Friday Teardrop Photo

The Sunflower in the parking lot of the Eastern Sierra Interagency Visitor Center in Lone Pine, CA. You can see Mount Whitney in the distance.

What's interesting about this location is that the visitor center and ranger station is on the corner of U.S. 395 and State Route 136. Highway 395 leads to Mount Whitney, the highest point in the contiguous U.S., and you can take 136 (then 190) into Death Valley—the lowest point in the U.S.

  1. Hi Christina!!! I am falling in love with the idea of a little teardrop trailer, and have been scouring and researching, and I came across your beautiful Sunflower and amazingly updated blog! (haha, lots of them have their most recent entries as 2012, or some such...) Anyway, HAD to comment because...I live in Ridgecrest, CA, and in this picture (Lone Pine), you guys were super close to us! (for us, an hour or two away is super close!). I will be keeping a look out for your yellow trailer! :)

    1. Thank you for your comment Maria! Yet, it's a challenge to keep up a blog, but having such great comments from readers keeps me going. :-) We love your area and want to come down there more often. We are often on 395 South, so keep an eye out and good luck on finding your own trailer.
