Friday Teardrop Photo

The Sunflower is getting a dose of juice from the sun. I won a 5 watt solar panel (Thanks Dave!) at a teardrop gathering and have been using it to trickle charge the Sunflower's battery. This will come in handy during Burning Man when we'll also be using a 12V clip on fan to stay cool during afternoon naps.

We've considered purchasing a larger solar panel for the trailer, but we don't use many energy hogging devices. Does anyone else have a solar panel for their teardrop trailer roof?

  2. I use a 20 watt panel. All lighting is led so no day to day charging is needed. But my fan draws 1.5 amps and the 20 watt panel supplies about the same so during the day it's a push.

  3. I use a 50 watt panel in my TD. I am about to double the wattage in order to run my Engel fridge longer than a couple of cloudy days. The new panel is the same size as the older one, but twice the capacity!

  4. I have used a 80 watt un mounted panel. We like shady camp sites an un-mounted panel can be placed in the sun. Keeps battery toped for lights, dvd player, radio and computer. By not mounting you get more power and no chance of making a leak .

  5. We have a folding solar charger. It has been a few years so I don't know the wattage off hand. we have so few items needing power we rarely use it unless we are gone longer than a weekend. Look for Sueellen Darblay and Randy Phillips at BM. They will both be in their tears @ 3:45 and erstaz. Have fun!
