Friday Teardrop Photo
This wonderful photo is from Road Adventures, a new camper (and tow vehicle) rental company in partnership with AAA auto club and insurance. The company rents iconic campers like Airstreams and Little Guy T@Gs and T@Bs and helps you plan the perfect trip to various locations. The company also has videos on how to operate your chosen trailer.
Caravan's Teardrop Trailer Rentals are First in Portland, Ore.
There are more teardrop rental places popping up around the U.S. and one of them belongs to a tiny house hotel in Portland, Ore. Caravan - The Tiny House Hotel rents out a Little Guy T@G Max trailer and two T@G Max XL trailers named Rosie, Miles and Sunny.
The owners of Caravan - The Tiny House Hotel found out how awesome teardrops are on a trip across western Canada last summer.
"We looked for a teardrop trailer to rent in Portland and discovered that no such rentals existed in Oregon," Kol Peterson of Caravan said. "Eventually, we found one. And after 12 days of traveling with the rental trailer, we were sold! The comfy bed and galley kitchen convinced us that we needed to launch Portland's first teardrop trailer rental company. We already had a good way to manage the rental fleet through the tiny house hotel."
The trailers can be reserved through the Caravan website. If one of the trailers is not available at the time, you can go on a waiting list. Any type of vehicle can tow a T@G, but you will need a 2" ball hitch that can tow around 1,000 lb. and a 4-pin or a 7-pin connector for the trailer brake lights.
Rosie, Miles and Sunny have great amenities including AC and heat (shore power needed), 19 inch TV with DVD player and Bluetooth and CD player and AM/FM radio. Miles and Sunny are extra wide and long and have a full length moonroof above the bed that opens and has a shade and screen.
Other features included in the rentals are:

Off the Grid Rentals Rents Off-Road Teardrop Trailers
If you prefer rugged, off-road camping and don't want to buy a teardrop trailer just yet, check out Off the Grid Rentals in Orange County, Calif. This company might be one of the only off-road teardrop trailer rental services in the U.S. and they allow you to take their teardrop trailers onto the mountain and desert backroads of this beautiful state.
Founder Nizar Najm founded Off the Grid Rentals when he could not find the appropriate rental gear for taking his children out into the California desert. This teardrop trailer, made by So Cal Teardrops, was CNC-machined to be overbuilt and the tires, body and suspension were designed to handle rough roads. The galley features a camp stove, an ARB refrigerator and plenty of storage space.
The teardrop also has a rooftop tent option by Columbus Variant for additional sleeping space. Attached to any roof rack, the tent includes a 2.5 inch foam mattress and two entrances from the side and rear. The tent is opened with internal gas rams. Along with the tent rental, you can also rent an ARB refrigerator and a generator.
The off-road teardrop trailer is rented for $170 a night and there is a two-night minimum. The roof top tent rents for $60 a night and the refrigerator for $20 a night.
You can rent directly from the company online.

Rent a Teardrop Trailer on Airbnb
I just got back from the inaugural Airbnb Open in San Francisco and had an amazing time visiting with hosts from all over the world. However, I seemed to be the only host who knew about teardrop trailers and the potential for them to be used as tiny, little guesthouses.
I'm an avid traveler and have loved every Airbnb place I've stayed in in various locations around the world including Spain, Morocco, Chile, New Orleans, Asheville, San Francisco, Portland and Paris. You get a very unique view of a location when you stay in someone's house, apartment, Airstream or treehouse.
I was curious if any Airbnb hosts had put their teardrop trailers on the home sharing website and there are a few including John and Kellia in North Carolina who tow their 4x8 teardrop to your chosen location or their favorite campsite, Paul in Portland who rents out his rare teardrop with boat, and Romaine who rents out a charming wooden teardrop at his home in Anglet, France.
If you are thinking of building or purchasing a teardrop trailer, take a look at Airbnb to see if there are rentals in your area where you can get a feel for the tiny trailers.

Rent a Teardrop Trailer Map
Two of the most popular posts on the Tiny Yellow Teardrop are the Rent a Teardrop Trailer and More Teardrop Trailer Rentals posts. I recently created an interactive map of teardrop trailer rental locations around North America with Map Your List. I will continue to add new teardrop rental opportunities in the future.
This map does not include individuals who may rent out their personal teardrop trailers. If you are an independent renter and would like to be on this map, let me know by commenting below. Don't worry...not all the teardrop rentals are hot pink.

More Teardrop Trailer Rentals
The teardrop trailer rental industry seems to be growing all the time, and I have some additions to my previous list of companies that offer teardrop rentals in the U.S. I was actually thinking of creating a map of teardrop trailer rental companies using Leaflet. I recently created a similar map for all the tribal courts in the country — so putting rental companies into a map should be a snap!

Rent a Teardrop Trailer
If you have fallen in love with teardrop trailers, but you don't want to commit yet to purchasing or building one, you can always rent one of the tiny campers. My first suggestion would be to make friends with a teardrop owner and offer to pay them to take their trailer out on a short camping trip. This will not only give you some experience with towing and sleeping in a teardrop, but you will make another friend who can give you some valuable advice.
There are several companies around the U.S. where you can rent a teardrop trailer for your next wilderness excursion. I'm surprised there are not more companies or individuals around who are willing to rent out their trailers. However, there have been some discussions on the teardrop forums that these types of trailers are very personal to their owners (especially if they were lovingly built from scratch) and owners are reluctant to part with their babies. So if you can't find someone in your local area who is willing to share, check out these rental teardrops:
