Friday Teardrop Photo

Sorry for the late Friday teardrop photo. I've been in the process of leaving my full time job to go into business for myself, and yesterday I gave notice at my job of nearly 12 years. I'm excited that I'll have more creative and personal freedom, but also feel a little nervous to head down a different road. I'll hopefully have more time to go teardrop camping and more time to spend with friends and family. Like this photo (taken in Idaho on last summer's trip), I'm heading into unknown territory, but I'm excited about what adventures lie ahead.

  1. Congratulations, I took that step thirty years ago. The wife and I ran a family business for twenty seven years. We have been retired now for three years, but have never regretted making the move to self employment. I hope that it works out as well for you as it did for us.

    1. Thank you so much Charles. Yes, it's been a dream of mine for a while now and I'm thrilled to take the step. You only live once. :-) What was your business?

    2. We ran an electronic repair company. Mostly televisions, but also things like automatic watering and feeding controls. Actually, anything that someone brought in and was willing to pay to fix. It was a good life, but I don't miss it. We retired to Mexico and are living a dream down here.

    4. We live in a small town on Lake Chapala. Altitude 5100 feet above sea level. The second best climate in the world. No heating or AC in the houses. Daily highs in the seventies, lows in the fifties, in January. Highs in the eighties and lows in the sixties in July. Friendly people, low cost of living. Forty thousand ex-pats at the lakeside. A real international community. Thirty miles from Guadalajara, with it's 4.5 million people. Anything that you want is within an hours drive. We have bananas, lemons, tangerines, guavas and mangoes in the back yard, avocados are across the street. It is a desert climate, but with a thirty mile long lake moderating the weather. Truly heaven on earth. I sound like a booster, but it is just a love of the area and the people that we are fortunate enough to associate with.

  3. Christina: I looked at your new webpage that you linked to the phrase "business for myself", and noticed that your "contact" info does not display.
Just wanted to let you know.
